Unapologetic progressive. Fearless activist. Plucky liberal.

The Indianapolis Star is reporting that Indiana Democrats have taken a page from Wisconsin Democrats and have fled the state rather than vote on anti-union bills. I heard a rumor about this last night; the Democrats left the Statehouse around 4:30 Monday and hadn’t returned hours later, although it wasn’t clear at the time whether they were taking a page from Wisconsin. Now that it is, I am very proud of my home state Democrats for standing up to the majority Republicans and refusing to go along with union-busting. I’m eager to see how this will play out. Even if the bills in both Wisconsin and Indiana eventually pass, the walk-outs have brought a lot of attention to an important issue.

  1. Kudos to them too.

  2. Illinois should begin advertising asylum for lawmakers – WI and IN have moved in :)

Chicago residents – get out and vote today!

    • Maybe the Wisconsin and Indiana Dems will meet up and be able to hash out a game plan that will benefit everybody. But it’s a sad day when they have to resort to walk-outs in order to protect workers’ rights.
