First snow

This is what I saw when I walked outside this afternoon.

I'm not ready for winter.

It still has lots of leaves on it.

And now the sun is shining and the snow is melting. Ah, the joys of living in the Midwest.

Parshallville Grist Mill

Rick and I recently visited the Historic Parshallville Grist Mill. It was a beautiful fall day, although unfortunately no apples were being pressed at the time. We took a few pictures:

This is the creek that flows from the mill pond.

This is the back of the Grist Mill. I love the hex signs.

It was a cold day, but we sat on the porch for a while soaking up the sun.

I'm sure it's busy at peak times, but this is funny because one car went by the whole time we were there, and we were the only visitors at the time.

We also went by Spicer Orchards and met Mr. Spicer. He gave us a tour of the cider mill and explained a bit about the process. He was very nice and we were glad we got a chance to meet him.

Edited to add: Rick sent along this picture of the horse (or is it a pony?) at Spicer Orchards. The poor thing was either really hungry or really lonely, because it followed us every direction we went.

This sweetie took a shine to us. I wish we'd had some apples to share.
